The Henry County Board of Commissioners attended a meeting held by the McDonough City Council, at 4:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 15, 2004, at the McDonough City Hall, 136 Keys Ferry Street, McDonough, Georgia.  This meeting was posted in the entrance foyer of the County Administration Building, 140 Henry Parkway, McDonough, Georgia, the usual meeting place of the Henry County Board of Commissioners.  The Daily Herald was notified of this meeting.  Those present were:

          Gail Notti, Council Member

          Mike Crawford, Council Member

          James Lee, City Manager

          Evelyn Craig, City Clerk

          David P. Brenskelle, City Attorney

          Mayor Craig introduced the topic of discussion, “Intergovernmental Agreement/Joint Purchase of Property.”  It was noted the subject property is located in the area of Jonesboro Road near the railroad track.


          Ms. Angus stated an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of McDonough and Henry County has been prepared.  She noted the City has formally adopted the agreement and the Board of Commissioners will consider adoption on January 20, 2004.  She noted this agreement is an integral part of this matter.  Ms. Angus stated the City has agreed the subject property will not be annexed into the City Limits of McDonough.  She stated the City and County are entering into this agreement jointly.


          Mr. Lee stated the agreement provides for both parties to approve any construction on the subject property. 


          Council Member Notti thanked Ms. Angus for championing the preparation of the intergovernmental agreement.  She also thanked the City for efforts toward this project.


          Commissioner Holder stated his position is unchanged.  He noted the Board of Commissioners has committed in principle to this project and he is hopeful the Board will fulfill its part of the agreement.


          Chairman Maddox stated his only question involves the make-up of the Committee created in the agreement. 


          The Board of Commissioners departed this meeting at 4:25 p.m.
