CHANGE TO ZONING ADVISORY BOARD MEETING TIME Effective July 1, 2016 the Zoning Advisory Board will begin the public meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Administration Building. The Zoning Advisory Board will no longer hold a work session prior to the meeting.
The number of cases submitted to the Planning and Zoning Department may necessitate a second meeting in the same month. If a second meeting is necessary, the day and time will be posted on the main County webpage under Board Agendas.
Zoning Advisory Board Change:
The following case was advertised for the September 8, 2016 Zoning Advisory Board meeting, but has been postponed by the applicant: CU-16-02 Shining Light Ministries, Inc. Shining Light Recovery Home for Women of McDonough, GA requests a conditional use for the property located at 782 Racetrack Road, in Land Lot 168 of the 7th District. The property consists of 2.375 +/- acres, and the request is for a rooming house in the RA (Residential- Agricultural) zoning district.
Zoning Advisory Board Change:
The following case was advertised for the September 8, 2016 Zoning Advisory Board meeting but is being withdrawn by the applicant: COMP-AM-16-05 The Reservoir Group of Athens, GA requests an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for the property located near the intersection of East Lake Road and Airline Road, in Land Lots 22 and 43 of the 7th District. The property consists of 26.32+/- acres, and the request is to change the Future Land Use Map designation from Rural Residential to Low-Density Residential and/or to change the text of the Comprehensive Plan to remove references to particular zoning districts.
Board of Commissioners Change:
The following case was advertised for the September 20, 2016 Board of Commissioners meeting, but has been postponed to the October 4, 2016 Board of Commissioners meeting: MC-16-03 Whitworth Builders of Fort Walton Beach, FL requests a modification to conditions for the Castlebrook Subdivision located at 1675 South Ola Road, in Land Lot 240, of the 7th District. The property consists of 32.61 +/- acres, and the request is to re-evaluate the zoning conditions given in the rezoning case RZ-05-32.

The mission of the Planning and Zoning
Department is to effectively manage community change in the
short and long term with regards to land use, transportation,
historic preservation and overall development, in order to
create a sustainable, livable, and economically successful
future for the citizens of Henry County.
The means by which the Planning and Zoning Department is to
effectively manage community change is the comprehensive
review and approval of all developments within the City of
Stockbridge and unincorporated areas of Henry County. In addition,
the Planning and Zoning Department interprets and implements
the goals and objectives of the Joint Comprehensive Development
Plan and interprets the regulations and requirements of the
Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances.
