Parks & Recreation
Volunteers Are a Gift to the Community
All volunteers are required to go through a background screening before being approved to volunteer in any HCPRD program. Volunteers are the backbone of parks and recreation, providing a dedicated work force and contributing thousands of hours of service. Through the work of volunteers the department services and programs are enhanced and improved.
Volunteer opportunities are available for coaching special needs youth and adult therapeutic recreation programs, special events, landscaping and park improvement projects. Many groups volunteer for park projects on Hands on Henry Day. The volunteer day is sponsored by Leadership Henry and is usually on a Saturday in April.
