During Leadership Program

The Henry County Police Department hosted a one-day Youth Leadership Program this past weekend, in which seventeen students from various high schools in Henry County participated. This was the second year of the program where students ranging in age from 13 to 18 were given an up-close look at the workings of the Henry County Police Department. The Youth Leadership Program is under the direction of the Internal Affairs Division and is part of the Henry County Police Community Outreach Program. Topics included an overview of the Henry County Police Department, Internet Safety, a tour of the Henry County Police Department, Gangs, K-9 Demonstration, Traffic Safety, Firearms Safety and Simulator, SWAT Demonstration, Crime Scene Analysis and more. The topics were taught by Henry County Police Department staff members who are currently working in those fields.
“The program has had a very good response and our leaders in the department have really stepped up in an effort to connect with our youth,” said Henry County Police Chief Keith Nichols.
