Unclaimed Property
The Henry County Tax Commissioner’s Office is proud to announce its partnership with Georgia’s Department of Revenue and their Unclaimed Property Division.
All states have unclaimed property laws that require property to be considered abandoned after a specified dormancy period. Georgia’s dormancy period is one year for wages and five years for most other property.
In 2010, Georgia Department of Revenue received $119 million dollars in property. Only $64 million had owner information. An additional $26 million dollars was return through the department’s relocation efforts.
Now it’s your turn to help. The Ga. D.O.R. and the Henry County Tax Commissioner’s office has agreed to work together to locate and return any unclaimed property belonging to the citizens of Henry County.
