A Lifetime Dedicated to Serving Henry County
Citizens
Keith
McBrayer is a life-long Henry County resident who graduated from
Henry County High School in 1975 before attending Clayton Junior
College. As a youth he was involved in Scouting and was presented
the Eagle Scout Award at age 16. He continued his involvement
in scouts by participating in the Law Enforcement Explorer Program
sponsored by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. As soon
as he graduated from High School he was offered a job at the Sheriff’s
Office. Even though he had already been accepted at Clayton Junior
College he took the job and attended college at the same time.
Keith McBrayer has served the citizens of Henry
County for over 30 years with the Sheriff’s Department which
until 1991 provided all the Law Enforcement functions for Henry
County. He began his career as a radio operator and in 1978 Keith
graduated from the Clayton Regional Police Academy. As his career
progressed he was awarded increasing responsibility and promotions.
While serving as a Captain, Keith was Henry County’s first
S.W.A.T. Team Commander. He has held the rank of Major for 18
years and served as Field Operations Commander.
Keith and his wife Susan have been married for
28 years and have two children; Laura and Tracy. The McBrayer’s
are active members of Hampton United Methodist Church where Keith
served as chair of the administrative board for many years.
Keith serves on the Board of Directors for Connecting
Henry, Leadership Henry, and for Youth Leadership Henry.
In 2007, Keith announced his intention to run
for Henry County Sheriff and won the primary without a run-off
in July 2008. Keith was then elected Sheriff with a victory in
the General Election in November. He graduated from the Georgia
Sheriff’s Elect Academy in December 2008. Keith McBrayer
has now been sworn in as Henry County’s 28th Sheriff and
has begun in his new role as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer
of Henry County.
Sheriff McBrayer’s Vision for the Future
is based upon over 30 years of Sheriff’s Office experience
and developing close relationships with Henry County communities,
Courts, and law enforcement agencies.
