2013 Election Event Dates

• March 19, 2013: Special Election (to fill vacancies and propose questions)*
• April 16, 2013: Special Election Runoff
• June 18, 2013: Special Election (to fill vacancies only)
• July 16, 2013: Special Election Runoff
• September 17, 2013: Special Election (to fill vacancies only)
• October 15, 2013: Special Election Runoff
• November 5, 2013: General Election/Special Election (to fill vacancies and propose questions)
• December 3, 2013: General Election Runoff / Special Election Runoff

Key Dates

• January 1, 2013: Earliest day to file and publish a notice of intention to be a write-in candidate in the November Municipal General Election. O.C.G.A. §21-2-133 (a)
• February 19, 2013: Last day for a person to register and be eligible to vote in the March Special Election. O.C.G.A. §21-2-224 (a)
• May 20, 2013: Last day for a person to register and be eligible to vote in the June Special Election. O.C.G.A. §21-2-224 (a)
• August 19, 2013: Last day for a person to register and be eligible to vote in the September Special Election. O.C.G.A. §21-2-224 (a)
• August 26, 2013: Earliest day for a candidate for municipal office to file a Notice of Candidacy to have his/her name placed on the Municipal General Election Ballot. O.C.G.A. §21-2-132(d)(3)
• August 30, 2012: Last day for a candidate for municipal office to file a Notice of Candidacy to have his/her name placed on the Municipal General Election Ballot. O.C.G.A. §21-2-132(d)(3)
• September 3, 2013: Last day to file and publish a notice of intention to be a write-in candidate in the November Municipal General Election O.C.G.A. §21-2-133 (a)
• September 9, 2013: Last day to file affidavit stating the notice of intention to be a write-in candidate has been published in accordance with O.C.G.A. §21-2-133 (b)
• October 7, 2013: Last day a person may register and be eligible to vote in the Municipal General Election and Runoff. O.C.G.A. §21-2-224(a)

*The voter registration deadline for the March 19, 2013 Special Election and the April 16, 2013 Special Election Runoff is Tuesday, February 19, 2013 due to the observance of Presidents Day on Monday, February 18, 2013. O.C.G.A. 21-2-14 (a) “Unless otherwise stated in a specific Code section of this chapter, time periods under this chapter include Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays.
