Violence Against Women Victim Outreach at the District 5 Safety and Protection Night in Ellenwood The Henry County Police Department’s Violence Against Women Liaison will be available Tuesday night, May 29th from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Home Depot parking lot in Ellenwood at the District 5 Public Safety and Protection Night. In addition to the relationship building and community collaboration of the host event, this ‘meet & greet’ occasion provides a chance for concerned citizens to speak directly with a law enforcement professional about domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking. It also provides a low-key, discreet opportunity for potential victims to learn about their legal rights, safety plan measures, and the resources available to them.
Henry County’s Violence Against Women Liaison can explain the roles of law enforcement, non-profit victim advocacy partners, prosecution, and courts to potential victims, or their families and friends. Resources are supported by Henry County’s Violence Against Women grant through the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and include the Haven House and the Southern Crescent Sexual Assault Center.
The host event is free and open to the public and organizers hope that it will enable the community and local government to interact and build a better relationship. The public is encouraged to attend this important event for all types of Public Safety information with direct access to personnel.
The Home Depot is located at 65 Fairview Rd. in Ellenwood. For more information about the host event, contact Sgt. Jimmie Spence at 770-288-7141 or Sgt. Jason Duffey at 770-288-8275.
