Highway Enforcement of
The H.E.A.T. Unit is comprised of
one Sergeant and three Officers of the Uniform Patrol Division.
This unit is part of a Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force that
is comprised of law enforcement agencies around the state,
organized by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety,
which have come together to combat aggressive traffic.
H.E.A.T. is designed to educate about,
and enforce laws related to proper Safety Restraint usage
for adults and children, laws governing speed enforcement,
impaired and aggressive driving. Each officer is armed with
materials to educate county citizens about our laws related
to each of those areas. The H.E.A.T Unit uses Radar and Lasers
units for the enforcement of speed. The Unit conducts DUI
Checkpoints throughout the year for the apprehension of impaired
drivers. Education and enforcement must go hand in hand if
we are to be successful in reducing the number of serious
injury and fatality motor vehicle crashes on our highways.
