Internal Affairs Division
The Internal Affairs Division is
responsible for investigating allegations of employee misconduct,
both internal and from outside sources or citizen complaints.
They ensure compliance with the department’s rules and
regulations, state and federal law and the Constitution of
the United States as assigned by the Chief of Police or Deputy
Chief of Police. This is to ensure investigative action when
members conduct themselves improperly while also protecting
members from un-warranted complaints pursuant to discharge
of official duties. Investigations are conducted in a fair
and impartial manner and all employees and witnesses are treated
with consideration and respect.
The Internal Affairs Division is
comprised of a Division Commander, an Investigative Sergeant,
a Recruiting/Background Sergeant, and an Administrative Assistant.
The Division Commander, Captain
Jason Bolton, is responsible for coordinating, assigning
and overseeing internal investigative operations. He also
serves as the departmental Public Information Officer (PIO),
which is the liaison between the department and the media.
The Investigative Sergeant, Rene’
Swanson, is assigned investigations by the Division Commander
and acts as Assistant PIO in the absence of Capt. Bolton.
She also assists in the background/recruiting and open records
request.
The Recruiting/Background Sergeant,
Robert Savage, is responsible for recruitment and background
investigations.
The Administrative Assistant handles
the open records requests and secretarial duties.
