The City of McDonough Veterans’ Information and Referral Office, in City Hall, is open on Tuesdays, from 10am-12pm, and Thursdays, from 1-3pm. Based on the type of information that a visitor is seeking, a direct referral is made to a contact within the appropriate branch of Veterans Services (healthcare enrollment, healthcare issues/advocacy, counseling, employment/career assistance, pension claims, home loans, education, benefits, etc.) A representative will contact the person directly to follow-up, answer questions, provide paperwork, etc.

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is a congressionally chartered veterans organization whose mission is to “honor the dead by helping the living” through veterans’ service, community service, national security and a strong national defense. The VFW has 2.2 million members all over the world with “direct community involvement” as a high priority. The VFW lobbies for public policy in the interest of veterans and service members, funds projects to recognize veterans, provide free phone cards to abroad active service members, contribute to the community through volunteerism, and provide college scholarships to our nation’s youth. The VFW’s programs include: Community Service, Citizenship Education, Youth Scholarship, Safety Program, and the National Home for Children.

The Veteran's Center, Inc. is nonprofit organization dedicated to reconstructing the lives of homeless, disabled, and disadvantaged veterans. The Veterans Center values families that create caring communities with the purpose of fostering needs, pinpointing life directions, and focusing on future strategizing. Through fundamental collaborations with residents, agencies, government, and businesses, we have been able to serve over 1,000 veterans within the Atlanta Metropolitan Area since our beginnings in 2008.
