Welcome to Henry County, Georgia.
We hope you find the information below helpful to you during
your transition into Henry County, or for current citizens

Animal
Control
Henry County operates an Animal Care
& Control facility, which houses stray or surrendered
animals. Animals are also available for adoption. If you have
lost your pet, please visit the facility to see if it has
been picked up. All pets are required to have current vaccinations.

Automobile
Registration
As a Georgia resident, you must register
your cars, trucks, trailers, motorcycles and motor homes and
apply for Georgia titles, when a Georgia title is required,
within thirty-days (30) of establishing residency in this
state.
For new residents,
you must have Georgia insurance and a Georgia drivers license
before you can register your vehicle. You can pay your tag
bill at several locations throughout the county. Visit the
Tax Commissioner's
office for additional information.
For general information (i.e. obtaining
a Disability Parking permit), please visit the State
of Georgia's Transportation website.
Driver's
Licenses
New Georgia residents must apply
for a Georgia driver's license within 30 days. All other licenses
must be surrendered prior to issuance of a Georgia license.
Persons 18 or over who surrender a valid out of state license
will be required to successfully pass an eye examination.
If you surrender a expired out of
state license, or if you are under the age of 18, you must
successfully pass an eye examination, road rules test, road
signs test and a driving test.

Environmental
Health
The Environmental Health department
provides the following:
- Information, evaluation and permits
for sewage management and septic tanks
- Pool site approvals
- Food service permits and food
service inspections
- Evaluates proposed well sites,
and issues permits for well locations
- Evaluate water samples
- Conduct West Nile virus surveillance

Garbage
& Waste Disposal
The county does not provide yard
waste pickup. If trees or tree limbs have fallen into public
roads or the right of way, then contact DOT at 770-954-2087.
Henry County does not have a landfill.
Clayton County's landfill is located at 11678 Hastings Bridge
Road, Lovejoy, GA. (770) 473-5495.
If you live within the city limits
of McDonough, Stockbridge, Hampton or Locust Grove, contact
the City Hall in those respective cities for rates and schedules.
If you do not live within city limits,
