Council On Aging

The Henry County Council on Aging is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made up of nineteen (19) volunteers who serve as directors. Supported programs include Meal-on-Wheels, Nutrition Supplements, In-Homes Services, Senior Centers, and Volunteer Activities. The council members serve as advocates on behalf of the senior citizens of Henry County.

Primetime Adventurers Travel Club

We have been very busy adding new and exciting trips.  For those of you that don't like to fly, we have you covered with three new motorcoach trips.  Each more exciting than the other!

I think some of you may be concerned about the Holy Land trip not being what you would want.  It will be the exact same trip you would take with your church or pastor.  I am using the same company that all the churches use.

We will soon start traveling on the 2019 trips - Normandy, Mississippi River, California's National Parks.  This takes us through the beginning of September.  Please don't let the time or space get away from you if you are interested in any of the other trips.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Are you looking for something new and different for your next “adventure”?  Look no further.  We have something for everyone.  There is not enough room to describe each trip in detail.  We will be happy to answer any of your questions.
If you want motorcoach tours, we have three new ones!  LANCASTER TRIP & DUTCH COUNTRY, September 23 – 28, 2019, where thousands still live a centuries-old “Plain” lifestyle.  This tour includes a guided tour of Amish Country, “Jesus” show at Sight and Sound Theater, “Ovation” Show at American Music Theater, a visit to Gettysburg NP, and enjoyable adventure to Hershey, PA, and much more.
One of the most popular motor coach tours this year is the ARK ENCOUNTER & CREATION MUSEUM, in Kentucky.  The four day trip is from October 7 – 10, 2019.  The Ark Encounter features a full-size Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. The Creation Museum shows why God’s infallible Word, rather than man’s faulty assumptions, is the place to begin if we want to make sense of our world.
WASHINGTON, DC – OUR NATION’S CAPITAL, April 16 – 22, 2020.  This experience introduces you to awe-inspiring sights all around town that represent our nation, memorials, museums, the poignant and inspirational sights at Arlington National Cemetery, and much, much more.
There are only 3 spaces left on our exciting BEST OF SOUTH AFRICA & SAFARI tour, November 29 – December 9, 2019.  From historical sites to natural wonders, this tour is an adventure like no other.  Begin in Johannesburg to learn about its turbulent past and hopeful future.  The guided African safari begins in Kruger National Park, with morning and afternoon game drives.  In Cape Town ascend to Table Mountain via cable car for spectacular views.  Venture to Cape Point Nature Reserve, the Cape of Good Hope, and Cape Point at the continent’s most southwestern tip.
The roots of your faith will come to life on this extraordinary journey through the HOLY LAND & ISRAEL, February 18 – 27, 2020.  Experience the power of scripture as it comes to life with memorable visits to Nazareth, Bethlehem, the Sea of Galilee, and Jerusalem.  Get inspired as you re-live some of the New Testament’s stories in their original settings.  All of this – and much more – await you on a deeply spiritual vacation of a lifetime!
ALASKA CRUISE & TOUR, June 8 – 18, 2020.  Enjoy an 11-night cruise/tour with ample opportunity to take in Alaska’s awe-inspiring glaciers and majestic scenery.  Explore the remote and rugged beauty of areas such as Glacier Bay, Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, the Inside Passage, Denali National Park and Fairbanks.  Much to see and do.
As usual, I am looking ahead to the latter half of 2020 and beginning of 2021.  I am gathering information on some very exciting and unusual trips – think SWITZERLAND August 2020 and HAWAII!! February 2021. More details later.  We always welcome suggestions for places to travel.  Some of the best trips have been traveler suggestions.
If you are interested in more information on these and other planned trips, please contact Nancy Hall at 770-898-8860, primeteacher@bellsouth.net or Melodi Moore, 678-814-3555, melodi.travel@bellsouth.net .  As always, all of the trips are escorted by Nancy Hall, and Melodi Moore.  Passing this information on to friends and family is appreciated.  Happy Traveling!
Volunteer Services
Have some spare time on your hands?
Senior Services can help you fill it
Many homebound Senior Adults in Henry County can no longer prepare their own meals and would really appreciate someone delivering one to them. In one hour or less you could be that someone.
It only takes an hour to give back to our Senior Adults.  If you’d rather help in another way – give us a call – we have other volunteer opportunities!
