Council On Aging

The Henry County Council on Aging is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made up of nineteen (19) volunteers who serve as directors. Directors are selected by each District's commissioner and City Council members. The council's primary objective is to support programs that serve Henry County senior citizens. Supported programs include Meal-on-Wheels, Nutrition Supplements, In-Homes Services, Senior Centers, and Volunteer Activities. The council members serve as advocates on behalf of the senior citizens of Henry County.

The Council’s primary fundraising event is the Miles-for-Meals Campaign which is held annually on the first Saturday in May.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Henry County Council on Aging, obtain information about the Miles-for-Meals Walk, or find out more information about the Henry County Council on Aging can do so by Phone (770) 288-6975.

Your cooperation will assist us in providing the best organization and administration of our programs.

Food Services

Our food services staff prepare meals that comply with U.S. Dietary Guidelines and provide at least one third of the Recommended Dietary Allowance.

The Meals on Wheels program utilizes staff and volunteers to deliver a hot nutritious meal to senior adults who are home bound and unable to prepare meals.

Our Senior Centers offer hot, nutritious cafeteria style breakfast and lunch meals Monday through Friday.

In the works for 2019!

2019 Upper Mississippi Cruise
  1. They only hold group space in Category C (outside veranda) and E (inside)
  2. The price you see is an early booking/group price.
  3. They are giving me only a short time to fill my space. I think if I fill this space, I may be able to request more space. That would be great.
  4. Please notice the change in dates - it is different than what I had previously mentioned.
  5. I highly recommend travel insurance. You will see the cost on the attached flyer.
  1. What you need to do:

  2. Immediately email stating that you are interested and will be sending a $500 deposit. Include the Category you're interested in. Also let me know if you have a roommate and their name.
  3. Then send a check for $500 deposit made out to Vacation Getaways.
  4. Along with the check, fill out the Registration Form and send it with the check.
  5. -make sure the name on the Registration Form matches either your DL or Passport. -you will not need your passport for this trip if you wish to use your DL as your ID.
  6. Paying for your insurance (see attached flyer) at this time will cover pre-existing conditions (for you and anyone in your family)

I have tried to include everything I can think of in this email or on the attached flyer. Remember the only outside cabins we qualify for as a group are Category C. Kindly ignore the other categories pictured. Download further information here.

Volunteer Services

Have some spare time on your hands?
Senior Services can help you fill it

Many homebound Senior Adults in Henry County can no longer prepare their own meals and would really appreciate someone delivering one to them. In one hour or less you could be that someone.

It only takes an hour to give back to our Senior Adults.  If you’d rather help in another way – give us a call – we have other volunteer opportunities!

For more info:
Call 770-288-6988 Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Background check required)
