McDonough, GA (Aug. 8, 2017) – A Henry County man was in court today for killing his child’s mother outside of a McDonough grocery store.

Teddy McNeil Jr., 31, entered guilty pleas to malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault today in Superior Court. Under the negotiated plea, McNeil was sentenced to life in prison.

On Nov. 14, 2015, McNeil shot Amy Pitts in the parking lot of the Kroger shopping center on East Lake Parkway. The couple, who have a child together, argued in McNeil’s vehicle. Pitts got out of the vehicle and McNeil fired one shot striking Pitts. McNeil then fled the parking lot.

Pitts, 42, was pronounced dead at Atlanta Medical Center several hours later.

“Cases like this underscore the seriousness of domestic violence in our community,” Henry County District Attorney Darius Pattillo said. “We hope this plea and sentence help to bring closure to the victim’s family as they continue to heal.”
