Man sentenced life for McDonough armed robbery
MCDONOUGH, GA (June 21, 2017) – A Henry County man will spend his life in prison after being convicted of robbing a McDonough Dollar General.
Henry County Judge Wade Crumbley sentenced Kerry Albright (AKA Kerry Head) to life without parole Tuesday. Albright, who has multiple felony convictions, was sentenced as a recidivist, which made the life sentence without parole mandatory.
The sentence followed after a jury returned guilty verdicts against Albright on two counts of armed robbery and possession of an illegal firearm.
Albright, 51, was charged with robbing the store at gunpoint in April 2013 and possessing a sawed-off shotgun.
During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Albright's cell phone pinged off cell towers near the Dollar General and along the route that police chased his vehicle. Albright fled after the police chase and was arrested several months later. His DNA was found on a hat inside the vehicle.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Megan Matteucci and Ralph Bailey.
