McDonough, GA (Oct. 13, 2017) – Baby dolls are the latest tool for Henry County prosecutors and detectives to investigate child deaths.
Today, the Henry County District Attorney’s Office distributed the life-like dolls to the Henry County, McDonough, Hampton and Locust Grove Police Departments for use in investigations and prosecutions.
“Our front-line responders are an integral part in conducting these extremely sensitive investigations,” said Senior Assistant District Attorney Jodi Spiegel, who heads the DA’s Crimes against Women and Children Unit. “We thank the GBI and local police for partnering with us to provide more resources for these investigations.”
The demonstration dolls, which are provided by the GBI’s Child Fatality Review Unit, will be used during law enforcement investigations to re-enact or photograph scenes where a small child was seriously injured or died.
“We have seen an increase in abusive head trauma and co-sleeping infant death cases. These dolls will also be extremely helpful for law enforcement during the investigation and at trial,” District Attorney Darius Pattillo said.
The GBI is distributing 300 dolls across the state.
