Building & Plan Review Department
As of Monday, February 16, 2015 the Bulding & Plan Review department will be accepting Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express in our office. This service is not currently available online.
Per Section 104.7 of Appendix B of the ULDC, foundation inspections are a required inspection. Effective immediately, no letter from an engineer will be accepted for a foundation, footing or monolithic slab poured without an inspection. Any violation of this section will require the removal of the placed concrete from the premises. The work must then be reformed and an inspection requested. There shall be no placement of structural concrete until that inspection has been passed by a Henry County Building Inspector.
All Contractors and Home Builders
Effective March 1, 2015
All plans reflecting new residential construction will require:
- All plans must be computer drafted. No hand drawn or hand written changes will be accepted. (Per App. B of the Henry County ULDC, No stamp or seal is required from a design professional).
- Plans must be a clear representation of conditions and materials used on site. Any changes will require a revised plan showing new proposed design, material or material location
- Siding materials, roof pitches and roofing materials must meet ULDC standards as well as Conditions placed on the property by Henry County Board of Commissioners.
- Three sets of plans will be required for review at the time of application. One set, stamped “Approved” will be returned to the permit holder for their records.

The following eight Georgia State Minimum Standard Codes will be effective January 1, 2014:

A current Business License is required for all building and trade permits. No building or trade permits will be issued to applicants with expired Business Licenses pursuant to Henry County Code Section 3.3.22 (unincorporated) and Stockbridge City Code Sections 9.01.030 and 9.01.060.
The State’s General Permit expired July 31. Any developer who files an NOI after midnight July 31, 2013 may proceed with construction. However, they will need to resubmit their NOI once the State’s General Permit is approved. Recent changes in state law now allow certain plats to be recorded without the prior approval of Henry County. Pursuant to the Official Code of Georgia Annotated §15-6-67, no approval from Henry County is required to record a plat if no new streets or roads are created or no new utility improvements are required or no new sanitary sewer or approval of a septic tank is required.
A recorded plat is required for all building permit applications; however, no building permit can be issued on any lot that does not meet the minimum dimensional standards as required by zoning.
