VI.            Presentations:

1.        Lieutenant Danny Thompson, a Station Lieutenant for the Fire Department won the first annual Rescue Air One Eagle Award for Outstanding Medical Services to the Community.  Lieutenant Thompson was nominated for this award for his continuous exemplification of an outstanding medical professional.

2.        Mr. Don Ash, Director of Emergency Communications was chosen as a recipient of the 2004 Governor’s Public Safety Award (GPSA) for his commitment and allegiance to the public safety community. (The GPSA program was created for the purpose of allowing the state to recognize those public servants that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to protect and serve our citizens.)

VII.         Rezoning(s)

                                     A.   The Meadows Group – RZ-04-40;  Commissioner Adams, District IV (Exhibit #14)

The Meadows Group of Stockbridge, GA requests a rezoning from RA (Residential Agricultural) to RM (Multiple-Family Residence) for property located at 71 Peach Drive, near Jodeco Road, in Land Lot 80 & 49 of the 6th District.  The property consists of 12.94+/- acres, and the request is for a condominium development.  Report prepared by Taurus Freeman, Planner II.  Municipal Planning Commission recommended Approval September 23, 2004.

                                     B.   First Southern Development – RZ-04-22; Commissioner Freedman, District II (Exhibit #12)

First Southern Development of McDonough, GA requests a rezoning from RA (Residential Agricultural) to C-2 (General Commercial) for the property located at 1911 Woolsey Road, in Land Lot 225 of the 6th District.  The property consists of 4.0+/- acres, and the request is for a commercial subdivision.  Report prepared by Jason Gaines, Planner II.  Municipal Planning Commission recommended Denial July 22, 2004.

                                     C.   E. Earl Warrington – RZ-04-30;  Commissioner Freedman, District II (Exhibit #13)

E. Earl Warrington of Jonesboro, GA requests a rezoning from RA (Residential Agricultural) to C-2 (General Commercial) for property located at the southwestern corner of Jonesboro and Chambers Roads, in Land Lot 109 of the 6th District.  The property consists of 6.292 +/- acres, and the request is for a commercial development.  Report prepared by Cheri Matthews, Chief Planner.  Municipal Planning Commission recommended Denial of C-2; however they recommended Approval of OI August 12, 2004.

 

                                     D.   Obinna Ezenekew – RZ-04-31;  Commissioner Holman, District V (Exhibit #15)

Obinna Ezenekew of Atlanta, GA requests a rezoning from RA (Residential Agricultural) to C-2 (General Commercial) for property located on the eastern side of GA Hwy. 155, north of Valley Road, in Land Lot 133 of the 11th District.  The property contains 2.28+/- acres, and the request is for a minor automotive repair center.  Report prepared by Taurus Freeman, Planner II.

Municipal Planning Commission recommended Denial August 26, 2004.

                                      E.   William Randar – RZ-04-44;  Commissioner Harper, District III (Exhibit #16)

William Randar of McDonough, GA requests a rezoning from R-1 (Single-Family Residence) to C-2 (General Commercial) for property located at 2353 Highway 155 North, in Land Lot 6 of the 7th District.  The property consists of 2.04+/- acres, and the request is for a retail pet shop.  Report prepared by Jason Gaines, Planner II. Municipal Planning Commission recommended Denial October 14, 2004.
