Henry County Animal Care & Control
Recently Impounded Pets
One of our goals is to reunite every lost/stray pet in Henry County with its owner and this page was designed to assist in that effort. Pets featured on this page have unknown owners and were either impounded by the Henry County Animal Care and Control Department or found stray and brought to the shelter by local residents. Pets housed at the shelter whose owners are aware they are here or have been left notification of their pet being held here, are not listed. Every effort is made to keep this list as current and accurate as possible, however, please note; it is possible that animals may be housed at the shelter that ARE NOT posted on this site. If your pet is missing, it is your responsibility to visit the animal shelter frequently, to insure that your pet is not here. As descriptions and impound locations vary, we cannot tell you over the telephone whether or not your pet is at the shelter. We make every attempt to contact the owner of any animal that comes into the shelter wearing identification tags/rabies tags or is microchipped. It is the responsibility of pet owners to insure that identification tags and microchip information are current.
The Henry County Animal Shelter is located at 527 Hampton Street, McDonough, Georgia. We are open to the public Monday – Friday 9:00am until 4:30pm and Saturday 9:00am until 1:00pm. The shelter’s telephone number is (770) 288-7387. Reclamation fees are;
- Impound fee: $30.00 (This fee doubles with each subsequent impound of the same animal or animals owned by the same person, within a 12 month period)
- Rabies fee: $15.00 (Charged if owner cannot produce proof of current rabies vaccine)
- Board: $5.00 per night for each night the animal is in the shelter (including days when the shelter is closed to the public)
All fees are payable in cash or money order only. We do not have the ability to process debit/credit cards and do not accept personal checks.
Animals are held for four (4) business days in order to give owners an opportunity to find and reclaim their pets. After that time, the animals are considered property of Henry County and may be offered for adoption, transferred to a rescue organization or humanely euthanized. Animals housed at the shelter are shown on this site during this four (4) day hold period. Once the hold period elapses, the photos are removed.
