Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.)
Henry County Citizen Corps Council CERT promotes a partnering
between emergency management and response agencies and the
people in the community that they serve. The goal is to train
members of neighborhoods, schools, churches and workplaces
in basic response skills. Then CERT teams are formed and maintained
as part of the emergency response capability for their area.
The mission of the Henry County Citizen Corps Council is
to harness the power of every individual through education,
training and volunteer service to make the community
safer, stronger, and better prepared for terrorism, crime,
public health issues, and disasters of all kinds.
A major component of the Citizen Corps Council is to train
citizens through the Community Emergency Response
Team (CERT) program. When emergencies happen, CERT
members can give critical support to first responders, provide
immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous
volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help
with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of
the community.
